We want to take some time to introduce you to Dr. Joel Brodsky, Dr. Charles Brodsky, and Dr. Jeremy Vistica. These three doctors have transformed over 25,000 smiles, and counting.
Dr. Joel Brodsky: Over 45 Years of Smiles
A Life Dedicated to Smiles
Dr. Joel Brodsky began serving Lakewood back in 1976 and has remained here ever since, which means he’s had the privilege to form relationships with patients that span generations of families. His role continues to be defined by these relationships today.
Education & Innovation
Dr. Joel earned both his engineering and dental degrees from UCLA before completing his orthodontic training and a Master of Science at the University of Rochester’s Eastman Dental Center. He’s an incredible advocate for staying on the leading edge of orthodontics and has spent much of his career researching and lecturing on topics like 3D imaging, the Pendulum appliance, and Invisalign treatment. He’s served on the cleft palate teams at:
- Long Beach Memorial Hospital
- Orthopedic Hospital Los Angeles
- Southern California Kaiser Permanente
He’s also a Member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the Angle Society, the National Research Society, and Sigma Xi.
Giving Back to His Profession
Outside of the family practice, Dr. Joel has donated his time to the UCLA School of Dentistry as a clinical instructor, mentoring students and overseeing research projects. His work with craniofacial cases and complex surgical orthodontics is proof of his dedication to solving even the most challenging problems with precision and care.
Dr. Charles Brodsky: Carrying the Legacy Forward
A Lasting Legacy
It only makes sense that Dr. Joel’s son would be inspired by his father’s passion for orthodontics. Dr. Charles Brodsky has had a special view of his family’s practice since he was five years old, and now works alongside Dr. Joel to extend the same standard of orthodontic excellence to our Lakewood community.
Education and Training
Dr. Charles grew up in Long Beach and graduated from Los Alamitos High School. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of the Pacific in just three years, then continued to dental school at UOP in San Francisco, completing his DDS in another three years. He completed his orthodontic residency and earned his Master of Science in Dentistry at Boston University. He is specially trained in:
- Invisalign®
- Orthodontic mini-screw implants (TADs)
- Tissue management with lasers
- Orthognathic (jaw) surgery cases
He is also a three-time winner of the Best Invisalign Cases award and a member of the prestigious Schulman Study Group, which brings together top orthodontic minds across the country.

Dr. Charles is committed to ongoing patient education and making sure every individual receives personalized care. For this reason, he takes extra care to make sure each step of treatment is explained thoroughly.
Dr. Jeremy Vistica: Inspired by Experience
A Strong Impression
Dr. Jeremy Vistica was aware he wanted to be in the orthodontic field from a young age, inspired by his own fond experiences during his orthodontic care. With fourteen years of experience across the Navy, private practices, and public health, Dr. Vistica lends a special perspective to Brodsky Orthodontics. He believes each patient’s visit should be something to look forward to.
Education and Professional Experience
Dr. Vistica was born and raised in Oregon, earning his Bachelor of Science from Oregon State University in 2003, followed by his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Oregon Health Sciences University in 2007. He served as a general dentist in the U.S. Navy, treating naval recruits in Great Lakes, IL, and sailors aboard the USS George Washington in Japan. After serving, he continued practicing dentistry in a variety of settings, including as Dental Director for the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indian’s Health Clinic.
Eventually, he returned to school for orthodontics, earning his orthodontic certificate at MedStar Washington Hospital Center/Georgetown University/Children’s National Medical Center. This residency was focused on surgical orthodontics and craniofacial syndromes, adding depth to his already well-rounded skill set.
Dr. Vistica brings warmth, empathy, and worldly experience to our office—and he’s honored to foster an environment that makes patients feel unconditionally supported.
