Dr. Joel Brodsky has been creating smiles exclusively in Lakewood since 1976. He’s created over 25,000 Brodsky smiles and prides himself on delivering clinical excellence in orthodontic treatment and on building lasting relationships with patients and their families.

With over 40 years of experience, Dr. Brodsky has stayed on the cutting-edge of treatment since day one. He’s a certified Blue Diamond Invisalign provider, putting him in the top 1% of specialists in the technology.

Because he’s remained in the same neighborhood for an extended period, Dr. Brodsky has had the pleasure of treating as many as three generations of some local families. He considers the relationships he’s created the most rewarding part of the job.

Over the last 40 years, Dr. Brodsky has created a professional, friendly atmosphere to make you feel comfortable. He enjoys providing a high level of personal service and always makes time to treat people as individuals.

Dr. Brodsky and his son, Dr. Charles Brodsky, are involved in every aspect of patient care and examine each patient at every visit. They’re always available to answer your questions and keep you updated on treatment progress.

Education & Continuing Education

Dr. Brodsky is a home-grown Southern California orthodontist who was born in Los Angeles. He attended UCLA for eight years, where he studied engineering and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1974.

It was at UCLA where orthodontics sparked Dr. Brodsky’s interest, as he became enamored with the idea of creating smiles without drilling. For this reason, he headed across the country to Rochester, New York, where he studied orthodontics at the Eastman Dental Center - University of Rochester and earned his certificate in orthodontics and a master of science degree in 1976.

High-Tech

Dr. Brodsky has always believed in incorporating cutting-edge technology into orthodontic practice and has lectured on this topic at dental schools and meetings across the country. Today, his research centers on 3D digital imaging, the Pendulum appliance, and Invisalign® treatment.

Paying It Forward

Dr. Brodsky believes in giving back to the profession he loves and has done so in many ways. He’s held an academic appointment at the UCLA School of Dentistry, where he donated time as a clinical instructor in orthodontics and oversaw student research in the field.

Dr. Brodsky considers his most challenging and satisfying cases those of patients with craniofacial problems and/or skeletal disharmonies that require a team approach and/or orthognathic surgery. He’s associated with the cleft palate teams at:

  • Long Beach Memorial Hospital
  • Orthopedic Hospital Los Angeles
  • Southern California Kaiser Permanente

Outside the Office

Dr. Brodsky currently lives in Long Beach with his wife of more than 40 years, Edie. In their free time, they like to spend time with their children and four adorable grandkids.

When he’s not babysitting, Dr. Brodsky likes to tinker with computers, exercise regularly, play golf, snow ski, and travel.
