A Lifelong Dream of Creating Smiles

Orthodontics is more than Dr. Charles Brodsky’s profession — it's his joy, passion, and unique opportunity to do what he truly loves. His father and partner, Dr. Joel Brodsky, has been an inspiration, practicing orthodontics for over 40 years. Growing up in the heart of his practice, Dr. Charles was captivated by the world of orthodontics from a young age.

Incredibly, Dr. Charles has been part of this office since he was just five years old. So, becoming an orthodontist wasn't just a career choice; it was the realization of his lifelong dream. Every day, he has the privilege of helping people get the smiles they've always envisioned, and in doing so, he's living a dream that began in his childhood.

Creating Brodsky Smiles

Dr. Charles has a deep appreciation for the natural smile, or as we like to call it, the 'Brodsky Smile'. Everyone possesses one, and his mission is to highlight and enhance these natural smiles, making them as stunning as possible.

We're all unique, but a radiant smile is a universal language. It bridges gaps, fosters relationships, and brings joy. Dr. Charles’ goal? To make people smile!

What excites him the most is crafting a personalized experience for every patient. He dedicates ample time during consultations to thoroughly educate you about your orthodontic issues and the treatment options available.

Education

Dr. Charles grew up in Long Beach and graduated from Los Alamitos High School in 1996. Following high school, he attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton.

He received a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Sciences from UOP in 1999 after only three years. Upon graduating, he moved to San Francisco, where he attended UOP Dental School and earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2002, completing the program in only three years.

Post-Graduate & Residency

After six years of hardcore studying and finishing at the top of his class, Dr. Charles was ready for a new experience. Following dental school, he moved to Massachusetts, where he completed a residency in orthodontics at Boston University School of Dental Medicine. He earned a specialty certificate in orthodontics and a Master of Science in Dentistry in 2005.

Boston was a nice change of pace, but after three mostly cold years, Dr. Charles decided the warm weather of California was calling him home.

Specialized Training

While training in Boston, Dr. Charles received extensive training and certification in Invisalign®, laser-assisted tissue management, and the placement and use of orthodontic mini-screw implants (TADs).

The orthodontists trained at Boston University are taught to treat the most complex orthodontic malocclusions, including patients who require orthognathic jaw surgery in conjunction with orthodontics.

Continuing Education

Dr. Charles is a curious person by nature, and constantly thinks about how he treats his patients and if there’s a better way to achieve great smiles.

While he always has his father to show him the way, Dr. Charles is an avid participant in continuing education courses. He believes learning doesn’t stop at residency, and if anything, he strives to learn even more now than he did in school.

Dr. Charles believes technology and new techniques continue to push orthodontics to new levels, and he enjoys learning and implementing new things in the practice. Because of this, Brodsky Orthodontics has joined the Schulman Study Group, a group of the top orthodontic specialists nationwide who are committed to excellence by sharing forward-thinking ideas.

Outside the Office

Dr. Charles and his beautiful wife, Vicky, love being a part of this community. Everyone has been so supportive and helpful with raising their two boys, Jack and Blake.

While they call Huntington Beach their home, most of their day-to-day activities and friends are in Long Beach. Life with two growing boys is busy and eventful, and Dr. Charles and his family are always doing activities together.

They recently joined the Long Beach Yacht Club, as their boys are avid yachtsmen and sail competitively on the race team. Dr. Charles loves being in and on the water with his children. He also enjoys fishing and traveling in his spare time.
