Your Lakewood Orthodontist
Meet your Lakewood Orthodontist
Dr. Joel Brodsky attended UCLA and studied engineering before earning his doctor of dental surgery. He then earned his Orthodontics certificate and Master of Science at Rochester University’s Eastman Dental Center. He holds an academic appointment at UCLA, where he donates his time as a clinical instructor and oversees student research in the field.
Dr. Charles Brodsky received his Bachelor’s degree in applied science from the University of the Pacific. He then received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of the Pacific Dental School. He then completed his orthodontic residency at the Boston University School of Dental Medicine. While studying in Boston, Dr. Brodsky received extensive training in Invisalign, tissue management with lasers, and mini-screw implants. He also received training in the most complicated malocclusions and orthognathic jaw surgery.
Why an Orthodontist in Lakewood? Orthodontist vs. Dentist
All orthodontists are dentists first, but though not every dentist has the qualifications to be an orthodontist. Dr. Charles Brodsky and Dr. Joel Brodsky continued their formal education for 2 or 3 additional years before receiving the necessary license and certification. As orthodontists, they have spent years studying nothing but how and why to move teeth. This includes what to do, how to plan, and how to execute the appropriate treatment plan.
Why does it matter if you see your Lakewood Orthodontist?
Specialists receive additional training to give them the skills needed to deal with more complex orthodontic problems. Dentists receive basic orthodontic training which allows them to perform root canals, extract wisdom teeth, and treat young children who do not need to see an orthodontist yet.
Seeing a specialist like an orthodontist may change your experience in braces by:
- Providing more treatment options.
- Giving you more efficient treatment and visits, because it is the office’s focus area of care.
- Knowing that you’ll receive the best possible outcome on your treatment plan, especially if you have severe bite problems that need to be addressed.
- Personal experience treating multiple cases that share your unique concerns
- Being seen more quickly, as a family dentist will be focused on longer patient cases or emergencies throughout the day.
While you may think it’s easier to have your orthodontics work completed by your dentist, it’s still convenient to visit your Lakewood orthodontic offices because you’ll only need to come in every six to eight weeks.
And don’t let price be a problem either! Brodsky Orthodontics is proud to provide affordable treatment in the Lakewood area.
Testimonials from Lakewood orthodontist patients
We have been very satisfied with the work Brodsky Orthodontics has done for both of our children. My daughter had an offset jaw, meaning that she needed jaw surgery to correct her bite. Dr. Brodsky walked us through the entire process from beginning to end and even connected us with a top-notch oral surgeon to perform the jaw surgery. My son has completed the braces phase and we just went for our retainer check to make sure that his teeth remain straight. Professional, thorough, efficient, and knowledgeable describe Brodsky Orthodontics. Thank you to both Dr. Brodsky's and their amazing staff for all of their help giving both of my kid's beautiful smiles! - Jill
